    Responsibilities

    Summary of Role

The UK institutional team is made up of Client and Consultant Relations Directors (“Advisors”) and Associates. Together, they are dedicated to building and servicing our institutional client base in the UK. The team is highly proactive, following a strategic plan to broaden and deepen advocacy with consultants and deliver investment solutions to pension funds, insurers and other institutions. Progress is strong and expectations for this team are high.

We are looking for an Associate to join this highly motivated, fast-paced team. The individual will support one or more Advisors directly, with day to day exposure to all Advisors in the group as well as the Head of the UK Client Group. The successful candidate will work within a broader team of EMEA Associates, of which three are focused on the UK institutional business.

The successful candidate will be a motivated team-player with at least a basic level understanding of the UK institutional investment industry, including client types (pensions and insurance ideally). Candidates must be detail-oriented and possess strong analytical, communication, and organisational skills. They will be required to stay on top of their Advisors’ priorities, and their own workload. At particularly busy times they may need to reassess priorities, working closely with their Advisors, Associate colleagues and the team’s Assistant to achieve results.

An undergraduate university degree is mandatory and direct, relevant experience within an institutional client service team preferred. A strong work ethic and healthy ambition for responsibility is essential.

    Responsibilities

Associates are responsible for handling client, consultant and prospect requests relating to the relationships to which they are assigned. They are also expected to be proactive and demonstrate initiative within the role. Along with their Advisors, the Associate is responsible for day to day contact with internal and external contacts associated with AB’s UK client and consultant relationships. They are accountable to their Advisors to ensure both internal and external expectations for service are met or exceeded. This includes building effective and trusted relationships first and foremost with their Advisors, but also with their Associate peers and colleagues in other departments including portfolio management, operations, client reporting, legal & compliance and finance.

The Associates’ responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

    • First point of contact for client and consultant enquiries, and collaborating with internal and external stakeholders to successfully address them (including product/performance/market/meeting-related queries; operational issues; legal amendments; billing queries)
    • Partnering with Advisors to provide support and ensure strong relationships that are built on trust and credibility
    • Organising, attending, and participating in pre-meetings for external meetings and events, and the follow-up afterwards
    • Attending and participating in internal team meetings
    • Coordinating and overseeing client servicing, prospecting, and consultant research/servicing materials including presentations, RFIs/RFPs, ad hoc reports, general correspondence etc.
    • Overseeing the new account take-on process including coordination of legal, portfolio management and operational items with the relevant internal departments
    • Facilitating contributions to/withdrawals from client accounts
    • Maintaining client summaries and consultant strategy pages
    • Accuracy of data in AB’s CRM system (Salesforce)
    • Overseeing the maintenance of AB priority strategies in consultant databases

Internally AB expects Associates to be fully trained and competent in dealing directly with clients, consultants, and prospects in a knowledgeable and professional manner. Associates will interact extensively with senior investment professionals, members of the Business Development team, and Client and Consultant Relations Directors globally.

Associates are encouraged to raise their personal profile across the firm. As appropriate, they will be asked to participate in departmental, regional, and firm-wide projects and initiatives. They are given the opportunity to take on greater responsibility where they exceed expectations.
