    OPS Group Description:
    The Alternatives Infrastructure & Operations team (“Alts Ops”) aligns with AB’s Alternatives Business Development unit and reports into Operations & IT. Alts Ops supports approximately $20 billion of alternative investment products and complex fund structures including private equity, private credit, hedge funds, fund of funds, co-invests, business trusts, business development corporations, and other commingled vehicles domiciled in Cayman, Delaware, Ireland, Luxembourg, and beyond. Investment strategies include Private Credit/Middle Market Loans, Real Estate, Emerging Equity, Energy, Multi-Manager, etc.

    Alts Ops collaborates with product development, legal, fund accounting, sales, technology, and external service providers to onboard investment teams & strategies and to maintain their ongoing operations. The team is also tasked with increasing scale and capabilities through automation and design of efficient processes & tools, while instituting best practices. In addition, Alts Ops seeks to deliver an intuitive and consistent experience for our clients and staff across our diverse set of alternative vehicles. Thematic goals include:

    • Support Growth – Increase scale and capabilities of Alternatives platform through automation and design of efficient processes & innovative tools
    • Service Quality – Deliver an intuitive, consistent, and modern experience for our clients and staff across all Alternatives data, reporting, transactions, and account events

    OPS Job Description:
    We are seeking a Nashville based Operations Assistant Manager to join our Alternatives IT Infrastructure & Operations team in Global Technology & Operations.
    Alts Ops is searching for an experienced individual, who is passionate about creating scalable processes and delivering consistent and highly intuitive service, digital experiences to our high net worth and institutional Alternatives clients. The Alts Ops Assistant Manager reports to the VP, Alternatives Infrastructure & Operations in New York and must be comfortable with remote management. They will work closely with the Head/SVP in NYC, the VP/Operations Manager in White Plains, Operations team members and IT Developers in Nashville to plan, prioritize, and maintain day to day operations for all client accounts.
    The ideal candidate wields experience from a transfer agency, investor/shareholder services, or operational function at a hedge fund, private equity firm, fund-of-fund, and/or related service provider (administrator, auditor, fintech, etc.). The candidate must also be comfortable working in a high paced setting with key contacts around the global.


    Describe the role:
    The manager will conduct analysis and drive workflow to mitigate risk, decrease errors/exceptions, increase operational efficiency, and maintain and improve the daily client experience.

    The Manager will engage a variety of business sponsors, stakeholders, and teams globally (e.g., Austin, Nashville, New York, Europe, Asia) across the firm, including portfolio management teams and leaders within the Alternatives business and the Private Wealth Management and Institutional sales channels, to ensure a consistent and accurate client experience. They will, lead a cross-functional team of analysts, and external vendors to deliver accurate and timely reporting, document processes, and implement efficient processes and tools. Through these collaborations, the manager should build a strong internal network with individuals from a variety of departments and management levels.

    The role supports AB Alternatives space across multiple distribution channels and business units and involves systems including ACE,,, MRS, Salesforce, Office X, Statestreet, PCTR, Boss, ABA, etc.



    • Manage a team of professionals to ensure an accurate client experience
    • Work to ensure vendors and external service providers are completing work in an expected time frame
    • Ensure team adheres to plan, identify and escalate issues, and resolve discrepancies

    What is the professional development value of this role?

    Initially, the candidate will learn the interworking of the team and its current processes,  document and analyze these procedures.  They will subsequently collaborate with their manager to hire, train, and manage two or more analysts.


    Over time, the Assistant Manager will increase their subject matter expertise on specific fund terms, systems, day-to-day processes, investor holdings, and related data for some of the firm’s most innovative and complex products. With this knowledge base, they will act as a liaison to various departments and assist by providing insight and solutions to complicated questions and challenges. The Assistant Manager may also represent the Alts Ops team on new fund launch initiatives and contribute ideas for structuring and reducing time to market. With the goal of iterative progress, the Assistant Manager should advocate their observations and recommendations and write requirement documents for further advancement of the AB Alternatives platform.


    • Minimum 5-8 years’ professional experience as a team manager, ideally in investor operations at a hedge fund, private equity, or related provider
    • Experience managing 2+ direct reports
    • Ability to structure ambiguous business problems, partner with IT to recommend technology solutions, and make informed decisions in real-time
    • Able to work independently with offsite management and comfortable working in a fast-growing office space
    • Client-focused with sense of ownership and follow-through
    • Skilled in building and managing relationships with business, management, and other key stakeholders
    • Detail-oriented, with strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills
    • Highly motivated with the ability to work effectively independently and within a team
    • Confident, yet humble with ability to listen, build consensuses with persons of varying backgrounds, knowledge, management levels, etc., and drive for results
    • Entrepreneurial spirit and agile approach within a corporate environment
    • Familiarity with SQL is a plus
    • BA/BS in Accounting, Computer Science, Finance, Mathematics, or related business field
    • Proven ability to multi-task across projects/requests, work well under time demands, and drive to deadlines


    • Adept at data analysis and quickly illustrating transaction path scenarios via basic Excel models, simulations, and calculations
    • Business aptitude, including written, verbal, and presentation communications
    • Proficient in Microsoft Office, especially Excel, and propensity to quickly learn new applications, processes, and areas of business
    • Strong management and people skills

    Special Knowledge:

    • Firm grasp of hedge funds and private equity concepts including capital commitments, capital calls, distributions, assignment of interest, lock-ups, gated redemptions
    • Solid understating of financial services industry, including regulatory, regional, operational, transaction processing, cost-basis accounting, and reporting
    • Market knowledge across equities, fixed income, multi-asset, and/or alternative strategies, including hedge funds, private equity, and real estate
    • Understanding of US and International wire transfer systems and accounts including, ACH, Fedwire, ABA, IBAN, SWIFT, Sort Code
