    Responsibilities

    Job Summary


    We are looking for a Product Manager within our Defined Contribution (DC) Business Development team. This team is responsible for developing, supporting and growing retirement solutions for our DC business in the Americas. The DC team provides innovative default solutions to plans of all sizes and is one of the largest managers of custom target-date funds in the US and a pioneer in multi-insurer in- plan retirement income solutions. The candidate will interact closely with Sales & Client Services, Marketing and the Multi-Asset Solutions investment team to focus on supporting and growing our customized target-date and income solutions for our largest and most sophisticated clients in our North America Institutional channel.

     

    Job Description

     

    Specific responsibilities include but are not limited to:

    • Maintain deep, product-related knowledge for AB’s customized large market target-date, glide path design and lifetime income offerings, including: investments, operations, communications, strategic partnerships, regulatory trends, product evolution and competitive positioning
    • Create and improve content for standardized product servicing, prospecting and educational materials in partnership with Marketing and the RFP team
    • Conduct comprehensive research analyses to create quantitative support for product value propositions
    • Prepare and update presentations used for new business development, and customize them as needed for prospective and/or finals presentations
    • Support and develop strategic partnerships with recordkeepers, fintech providers, consultants, insurance companies
    • Research and prepare responses to ad-hoc requests from client-facing teams
    • Monitor and analyze the competitive positioning of AB’s custom solutions
    • Stay aware of marketplace trends and proactively share updates with the team
    • Support AB’s responsibilities as a member of industry trade organizations, a participant in industry events and as a party to regulatory discussions
    • Assist with the product development process for new concepts
    • Participate in client meetings with plan sponsors and/or consultants as needed
    • May also support business development efforts for our broader target-date business

    Qualifications

    Job Qualifications & Key Attributes

     

    The ideal candidate should have:

    • BA/BS in Finance, Economics, Business Management or Marketing
    • 5-7 years of experience working in the financial services industry with direct experience working with defined contribution plans preferred.  Working knowledge of annuities is a plus.
    • Working knowledge of target-date funds and various Qualified Default Investment Alternatives and the ability to articulate the pros and cons of various kinds
    • The ability to summarize the crux of an article or data analysis into a few bullet points
    • Strong written and verbal communication skills. Ability to develop concise and consistent product messaging and positioning, ensuring marketing materials support the “product story” and coaching sales colleagues on how to most effectively use them. Ability to articulate the value of AB’s approach to various audiences and to anticipate and handle objections during the sales process.
    • Comfort working with large data sets and using Excel properly to analyze and organize the data before drawing conclusions
    • Strong project management and time management skills. Experience working under both tight deadlines and undefined deadlines. Must be able to define milestones for projects without strict deadlines and stick to them.
    • A track record of making time for self-development in a fast-paced work environment
    • Genuine intellectual curiosity about how things work, spending the time to learn as much as possible about a topic when faced with something new
    • Enjoyment from sharing knowledge with the rest of the team, seeking out feedback from other on ideas, asking thoughtful questions and mentoring junior staff

    Required Skills

    • Strong experience with PowerPoint and Excel
    • Analytical and data analysis skills. Working knowledge of SQL or VBA a plus (e.g. modifying existing queries and macros)
